Topic: NEVER RETURN EVIL FOR EVIL

NEVER RETURN EVIL FOR EVIL
““Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated, suffering evil)? He should pray...”” — James 5:13 AMPC

When others mistreat you, when they insult you or falsely accuse you, how does God expect you to respond? He said, "Never return evil for evil or insult for insult (scolding, tongue-lashing, berating), but on the contrary blessing [praying for their welfare, happiness, and protection, and truly pitying and loving them]. For know that to this you have been called, that you may yourselves inherit a blessing [from God — that you may obtain a blessing as heirs, bringing welfare and happiness and protection]" (1 Peter 3:9, AMPC). Amazing!

The Lord Jesus said, "Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of those who curse you, implore God's blessing (favor) upon those who abuse you [who revile, reproach, disparage, and high-handedly misuse you]" (Luke 6:28, AMPC).

It is very tempting to respond in the exact opposite way, but it is wise to respond according to the Word of God. "Do not let yourself be overcome by evil, but overcome (master) evil with good" (Romans 12:21, AMPC).

Rather than retaliating with anger, revenge, or giving up on the good you've been doing, react like someone who knows and loves God — pray!

CONFESSION

Thank You, Father, for Your love which is shed abroad in my heart by Your Spirit. With this love, I react well to those who mistreat me.
